Mr. Jakob S. Friðriksson, conference chair
Jacob is Manager of Business Development at Reykjavík Energy. Jacob has been actively involved in the geothermal energy sector in Iceland and internationally since 1991. His focus has been on district heating systems and power production using geothermal resources. He has both managed and participated in development of projects and their execution as well as operation of utilities and power plants
Mr. Benedikt Höskuldsson, Minister-Counsellor
Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland
Benedikt is the head of Dept. of Natural Resources, Environmental and Energy Affairs . Benedikt serves as a focal point for Iceland to the International Renewable Energy Agency -IRENA. Iceland is strongly engaged in cooperating and supporting IRENA in the geothermal field. Iceland, among others supports the Geothermal in the Andes initiative, the Global Geothermal Alliance initiative, which strives at gathering political support for increased geothermal deployment globally and at the same time to increase collaboration between key actors both private and public sectors.
Mr. Friðrik Ómarsson
Fridrik Omarsson is a Project Manager at the Business Development and Marketing department of Mannvit. He has a degree in Management from the George Washington University, D.C., USA and over 10 years’ experience in business and geothermal energy development. Previous to his position at Mannvit, he worked for DHL in the United States and Samskip. Following that he was head of marketing and sales at geothermal energy companies, Geysir Green Energy and Enex.
Mrs. Kristín Vala Matthíadóttir
Kristín Vala Matthíasdóttir is a chemical Enginneer working for HS Orka and the chairman of the Iceland Geothermal Association. She has an M.Sc.degree inChemical Engineering from University of Lund, Sweden and wide experience within the geothrmal industry. Prior joining HS Orka Kristín Vala worked for Margma Energy Iceland, Geysir Green eneregy and Enex.
Mr. Sigurður Markússon
Landsvirkjun, National Power Company
Sigurður Markússon is a Project Manager at research and development department at Landsvirkjun. His focus is on industrial development coupled with geothermal power plants and innovation projects ranging from utilization of geothermal gases to the development of near magma geothermal reservoirs. He has a M.Sc. degree in Geochemistry for University of Iceland. Prior to joining Landsvirkjun Sigurður has worked for Efla consulting engineers and CNRS in France.
Mr. Þorleikur Jóhannesson
Verkís Consulting Engineers
Þorleikur Jóhannesson received his Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iceland in 1987 and a MS degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Denmark in 1990. From 1991, he worked at Fjarhitun Consulting and Engineering firm until it merged into Verkís Engineering in 2008 where he is still working, leading the mechanical and system design department of the Geothermal Division.
